Travel with Giddy

Welcome to the world of travel! Traveling is an exhilarating and transformative experience that opens up new horizons, broadens your perspective on life.

Travelling to Pitt and back

We traveled to Pittsburgh (August 1-5), where we encountered a little time distortion as a TWA jet pulled up to the gate beside us.

We visited with our son and grandson and had an enjoyable long weekend. On Friday, we took our grandson to Carnegie Science Center, which offers four floors of interactive exhibits geared for all ages—from the smallest scientists to adults.

The Miniature Railroad opened in 1954 in Buhl Planetarium and features hundreds of wonderfully realistic animated scenes that illustrate the Pittsburgh region’s rich and diverse history up until 1940. the Miniature Railroad and Village to help! Our miniature village and model trains encapsulate iconic Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania landmarks, from Primanti’s and Kaufmann’s to Fallingwater and the largest train display in Western PA.

We even visited the USS Requin (SS 481) Submarine, a Cold War-era submarine. We climbed through hatches and saw its various compartments.

Our grandson’s favorite was Bodyworks, where he could watch himself as a skeleton and move about. He also found a potential vocation for later in life as a weather forecaster.

Bonnie and I checked out the Mars exhibition, which launches you on a 300-million-mile journey to Mars, where you will learn the many facets of space exploration. We have been to the Moon; the next giant leap is on Mars. However, we recently stranded two astronauts at the ISS, so there is no time in the immediate future.

We walked around the waterfront and past the stadium for lunch downtown.

Our four-day trip went quickly. On one of our walks in Regent Square, where we had rented an Airbnb, we spotted.

Can you guess?

Our travel home was challenging, where we encountered four flight cancellations out of Charlotte, NC (Sunday-Monday) due to Debbie’s (the hurricane) downpouring of water on Florida’s west coast. When we left Florida, it was still a wave in the Caribbean, but it quickly grew and threatened the western coast of Florida while we were in Pitt for four days. We flew from Pitt to CLT, staying at a Charlotte Hotel. Then, we were able to get on a flight to Fort Myers at 11 pm, landing at 1:10 am on Tuesday morning. We Ubered home from Fort Myers, arriving a little after 3. There was no damage or flooding at our condo, but there was flooding throughout Manatee County.
