After being at sea for several days, we docked in Point Delgada Azores. Our tour was a food walk in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel Island, which offers a delightful way to immerse yourself in the Azorean culinary scene. Our tour was through Hungry Whales which is an award-winning tour group that takes you through the charming cobblestone streets of Ponta Delgada. We sampled over 8 local specialties and 2 drinks, including seafood, cheeses, and pastries. The tour also includes a visit to the local market and insights into Azorean history and culture. Our tour was headed by local co-owner of tour group which provides insights to various island traditions. The tour was approx. four hours and was a great way to see the town. An interesting note that Ponta Delgada has the only high rise building 20 stories in the Azores. After it was built, passed a law of no high rise buildings.
We stopped at a little store that carried almost any canned fish or seafood that you could desire which Giddy looked carefully for his Azorean squid.
