We left the beautiful island of New Caladenia and Ilot Maitre to head back to Sydney.
Thankfully we left plenty of time for Noumea airport check-in. We had valid visas but were not recognized by Qantas Air to travel. The Qantas Customer Service agent (Noleen) in New Caladenia was very helpful and we made are flight. We spent the night in Sydney and then off to LA. We used up my American Frequent Flyer miles (>200k) for business/1st class to Tampa. Giddy’s seat was very costly to be in the middle.
However, due to plane mechanical in LA, we missed our connecting flight from Dallas to Tampa. The only way to arrive home same day was to take a volunteer downgrade to coach and take the last flight that night to Tampa. No points returned for the downgrade and inconvenience by AA”s mechanical issue. We arrived home on April 5th around 2:00 am with all our luggage.
A journey is there and back again, an epic journey is visiting, meeting people and enjoying the everyday experiences of the journey. -JP Menge
